Kalchreuth: Short and Sweet (Easy-Medium)

Kalchreuth: Short and Sweet (Easy-Medium)

One of our favorite cycling routes in the Nuremberg area, perfect for short windows of time, or for training. The ride starts at SALA and then leads up north towards the airport and up towards Kalchreuth. The ride is a 47-km loop, 320m elevation, and it should take two hours at an average speed of 23km/h.

What we like about it:

  • Friendly for new cyclists
  • Great Tarmac, cycling lanes, pretty landscape, gradients average below 7%
  • Plenty of options for eating, we recommend “Drei Linden” at the top of the Kalchreuth hill
  • Easy to expand and/or increase difficulty, we recommend venturing north, and trying the “Rodlas Pass” from Neunkirchen am Brand towards Gräfenberg. This adds about 15km to this route, with a 3.5-km climb / 185-m elevation / 5.3% average gradient.
