Whether you cycle through winter or not, the colder months leave plenty of down time to take care of all those labors of love we put off in the summer. From relationships to bike chains, a little maintenance goes a long way. Some of these tasks we can help you with, and for the rest, we can only provide the inspiration.
KEEP MOVING
Aside from the physical and mental health benefits, exercising regularly will help ease you into next season and reduce risk of injury. If you outdoor cycling in the winter isn't for you, come spend an hour in the SALA cave! We hold weekly Zwift Rides and can also help you find your FTP (Functional Threshold Power).
BIKE MAINTENANCE
Whether it's a small fix or a big change (new bike, perhaps?), winter is the perfect time for updates. Bike shops get slammed in the spring. It's a fact. So beat the crowds and do it now! Check out the Check-Up, Cleaning, and Repair services we offer here at SALA.
PHYSICAL CHECK-UPS
Just like bikes, our bodies need an inspection every now and then. We find the hardest part to be picking up the phone and making the appointment. If you feel the same way, here's your gentle push to do it today. Summer-you will be grateful to not be wasting a beautiful afternoon in a waiting room.
RELATIONSHIP CHECK-INS
Let's face it. Not everybody shares a love of cycling. For the people in our lives that we might not get to spend as much time with during high season, winter offers plenty of opportunities to get in some quality time. Whether that means letting them pick the activity or doing something you both enjoy, find a way to reconnect!
PLAN AHEAD
We know things don't always go to plan, but it never hurts to be prepared. Laying out cycling goals, travel plans, races, and other events helps visualize what else needs to fall into place to make them all possible. From childcare to meal planning, cycling requires its fair share of off-the-bike logistics.
We hope this handful of ideas helps us all get a jump start on the 2025 cycling season and come back ready to hit the ground pedaling! If you think of any others, let us know.
